Married sixty-three years, Charlene left me looking as beautiful as the day she stepped into my life on her way home from high school to say hello to Onalee, her next-door girlfriend. Wearing my Army uniform on my first military pass, I knew I had to see more of this beautiful girl, but Charlene made it clear that wouldn’t happen. “I’m going steady,” she said. “He’s in the service. He’s away now.” With that bombshell, Charlene walked out the door. Onalee, the boyfriend’s younger sister, turned to me and shrugged with a small smile. “Guess she’s unavailable, Jack.” Unavailable? I didn’t need a dictionary to define the word. But unavailable? She’s right next door… and probably long overdue for a fun weekend. My sleepy girlfriend, stirred, planted her feet on the floor, yawned, ran her hand through her hair and rose. “Be right back, honey,” she mumbled and headed for the bathroom. I checked the clock, grimaced, then resumed my trek down memory lane.
Autobiography:
Born in 1930 in Kearney, Nebraska, Jack Hawn later spent four years assigned to the army’s public information offices. In civilian life, he then found work as a copyboy at a Hollywood newspaper, was paid $5 to review plays and nightclub acts, and a year later filled a sports desk vacancy. Working for the LA Times, Jack Hawn’s journalism career covered sports and entertainment. He earned extra income as a television dramatist and wrote TV and radio scripts for sportscasters.
During his 43-year career, he covered Muhammad Ali title fights, boxing at the 1984 Olympics, and wrote about Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., and other celebrities until his retirement from the LA Times in 1991.

As a print-on-demand provider, Writers Branding LLC prints each order as it is placed. Please note the following printing timelines:

- Hardcover – five to seven business days
- Full-color – five to ten business days
All shipping timelines and service levels are based on the date your books leave the printing warehouse. You’ll receive an e-mail on the day your order is shipped. This e-mail will contain shipping tracking numbers if you’ve selected a tracked shipping method with parcel tracking.
Your books can be shipped from a variety of printing warehouses. This variation is based on your geography and the availability of the products in your order. In most cases, this variation will decrease shipping times as the orders have less distance to travel to reach you.

All shipping transit times quoted herein are to be counted in business days, not calendar days.
It is the customer’s responsibility to keep Writers Branding LLC updated with the most current and accurate shipping address prior to the placement of orders. Writers Branding LLC is not responsible for delays in shipping; has no control over and takes no liability for orders that are lost in transit; and is not accountable for orders lost due to errors by the customer, postal, or courier system.
Shipping Options
Orders sent with USPS Regular Mail are not trackable or insured. Expedited shipping is available for an additional charge. When selecting the expedited option, you understand your order will ship after the book(s) has/have been printed.
International Shipping
International shipping is any order not destined for the United States, Canada, Great Britain, or Australia. In order to ensure tracking on international shipments, please choose an express shipment method. As with all of our shipping methods, tracking information will be forwarded to the e-mail address provided during registration. If the books do not arrive or are damaged, they cannot be replaced. Delivery time depends on location. Customs and duties may apply depending on the country of delivery.
Replacement and Refund Policies
Due to the nature of our business, all orders are printed at the time of order and cannot be cancelled or changed once the order is completed. Titles are non returnable. We do NOT execute refunds once the order is already in our printers. Please double check all shipping/billing addresses, quantities, and shipping options before submitting your order. Orders sent with standard shipping are not eligible for replacements if lost in transit or if damaged.
Free Shipping
Book copies purchased during free shipping special promotions are delivered via United States Postal Service Priority Mail. Unless stated otherwise, shipping charges must be shouldered by the buying party for regular book orders.
